Hashimoto-chō kōsatsu (the designated places for the display of official notice boards)
Kōsatsu was a wooden board used for official announcements by authorities of the Edo Period. It was posted in public places such as crossroads and the foot of bridges. Especially in the Edo Period, the Edo shogunate wrote policies on the board that they thought were most important. In the Edo period, Kōsatsu was posted in several places such as Hashimoto-chō and Narasaka-chō near the border of Yamashiro (Kyōto as it is known today). On Hashimoto-chō, Kōsatsu has been recreated for tourists with some words changed.
